Our much-loved colleague John Marriott has ticked off a major milestone on his mission to visit all 644 Asda stores across the UK – calling in at his 200th store, Asda Killingbeck in Leeds.
John, who's autistic, works at our Arrowe Park store and was accompanied by the store's community champion Ian Grant.
Ian said: "John has a passion for visiting our stores around the country and reports back on what he finds.
"A big thank you goes to community champion Lisa from our Killingbeck store who made his arrival at his 200th store one to remember.
"A little surprise was organised to which I had the pleasure to attend he was greeted with a round of applause from the colleagues and they even had balloons to celebrate after a walk around the store.
"John joined Asda in 2006 for work experience which was organised by his school. When this ended his colleagues asked if he could be kept on as he was such a good worker. John went away to college in Southport for three years to learn independent living as he has specific needs and he transferred to Asda Southport, but his heart was in Arrowe Park to which he has now returned."
Lisa said: "We are so pleased that John enjoyed his visit. It was a pleasure to welcome him to our store."
John is looking forward to visiting more stores over the next year.
