"You make people laugh, smile and make their day with your dancing and banter. When people feel down you put a smile back on their faces. You are an inspiration" – that's just one of the many fantastic comments about Pauline Hall from our Netherton supermarket in Dudley.
Pauline, who's 62, was recently voted Customer Colleague of the Year for the Birmingham area in the Proud To Be Asda Awards. She's worked at the store for nine years and is usually seen on checkouts, self scans, the kiosk and helping with parcels.
She's a well-known figure in the store and always likes to have a joke and a chat with regular customers.
She said: "I just love the daily banter with them all. I help them with their shopping and have a natter.
"It’s nice to hear that they say how lovely I am and that I'm always happy and jolly and always have a smile.
"I’m loud and daft, that just me. Being a small store our customers are regulars and they love the banter and the general friendliness."
Pauline, who has three grown-daughters, Sarah 38, Charlotte and Rachael and seven grand-children, said: "One day I’d helped this lady who had three children. I saw that she was having a bit of trouble so I took over scanning her shopping whilst entertaining her children.
"Another time I saw a stressed mom so went over to help her. I gave her a cuddle and listened to her problems as she’d had the day from hell. I saw her sat in her car crying so I took her a bunch of flowers. She came into the store another day and left me a note, saying 'thank you'."
Here's just a few of the things some of her customers said about Pauline when she won her award.
Loz Rose said: "You deserve the world and more. You are crazy and loud but by God you put a smile on a lot of people's faces. You make people laugh, smile and make their day with your dancing and banter. When people feel down you put a smile back on their faces. You are an inspiration."
And Liz Slater added: "You deserve it. You always brighten my day."
Debbie Davies said: "Congratulations, you deserve it. You are always smiling and pleasant."
And Marlene Woodbine said: "My golly you really deserve it. Always chirpy. All Asda customers love to see you. It makes their day."
Assistant store manager Emily Scott says everyone at the store is so proud of Pauline.
She said: "Pauline's a valued colleague and a much-loved character, especially by our customers.
"She is always bubbly and helpful and is the 'go to' if we need anything promoting in store like Asda Rewards or any special offers. She's great with the children that come in to store too."
