After last year's Christmas dinner was sadly cancelled due to the pandemic, members of Markham Community House Luncheon Club finally got to tuck into turkey with all he trimmings thanks to an Asda Foundation Bringing Communities Back Together grant.
Lucie, our Blackwood store's community champion, helped with the festivities – even dressing up as a Christmas elf to serve up the food. She said: "It was absolutely amazing to be back in the community and the Christmas lunch was brilliant; it really felt like Christmas. All the guests dressed up and got into the Christmas spirit. We had games like pass the parcel with oven gloves, the best Christmas jumper and we even had Christmas songs playing and a gift for everyone. As you can see by the photos everyone had a great day." Sharon, manager at Markham Community House, said: "A lot of our pensioners had a very tough time throughout the pandemic and some were totally isolated so it was great when we received the grant from the Asda Foundation. We decided to combine a welcome back and a Christmas lunch for no charge at all because they missed out so much last year."
