Boston River Clean Up

We joined the Boston RiverCare group on their first ever river clean on Saturday 14th August.

Volunteers from across the town all met at the Boston Rowing Club to help tackle litter pollution which would otherwise persist in the environment, damaging wildlife and perhaps eventually ending up in the ocean. By looking after this stretch of river in Boston we hope to help prevent this litter and plastic pollution from having a negative impact on river and marine wildlife, and to create a cleaner river for the local community to enjoy. Members of the Boston Rowing Club were on the water from 8.00am while volunteers cleaned from the top of the riverbank.

We even managed to find a couple of Asda trolleys to rescue and return back to our store. The RiverCare and BeachCare programme is delivered by Keep Britain Tidy in partnership with Anglian Water and with the aim of supporting local community groups who want to protect and enhance their local waterways and beaches. Across the whole Anglian Water region there are over 1,000 regular RiverCare and BeachCare volunteers.
