A big well done to nine-year-old Sophia who popped into our Thornaby store to pick up a whole host of essential items for Thornaby Foodbank with money she raised by completing a sewing challenge.

Sophia, who regularly shops in the store with her mum Victoria, was set a challenge by the 6th Fairfield Brownies to raise money for a charity of her choice and she picked the local food bank. She spent hours learning to sew and then made little pillows which she sold to friends and family. Our store's community champion Kayleigh said: "Sophia raised £20 and, after having a chat with the food bank to see what they were short of, used the money to buy essential products. She made herself a little list, stuck to her budget and made sure she got everything they needed. Well done Sophia, we're so proud of you here and I know Thornaby Foodbank are too." Victoria said: "When we go into the store we always see the food bank trolley and we always put something in. When Sophia wanted to go for her Brownie charity badge she said straight away that she wanted to raise money for the food bank. When she went around the store picking up the items she was over the moon; she felt like a very important person. We are all so proud of her."
