I am delighted to share the news that The Berin Centre in Berinsfield has been successful in their grant application of £570 as part of the Asda Foundation's Better Starts grant stream.
Funding was applied for to support delivering an Outdoor Explorers group for children under five and their parents. When trialling this previously, they found various barriers to participation, including having suitable outdoor weather equipment, so plan to purchase waterproof dungarees, jackets and wellies and sun hats so all children can participate in outdoor learning and enjoy different opportunities both in and out of the centre, where they run these sessions. Enjoy jumping in those muddy puddles and den building – it all sounds fantastic.
I enjoyed a tour of their centre, including their outdoor Community Kitchen Garden, where the community can help to grow fruit, vegetables and herbs in planted beds just outside the centre, as well as picking some to eat at home. Pictured here are Laura and Emily.
