This week we’ve been recognising our fantastic long-serving colleagues – like Pauline Brown, who’s worked at our Cramlington store for 45 years.

Colleagues with more than 25 years of service got together at the Big Asda Anniversary to celebrate their commitment to our stores and customers.

Pauline has worked on the checkouts at the store since 1972 and has no plans to retire.

She said: "I love my job as much as when I first started, I love every minute of it. I lost my husband two years ago and I’ve never had a family so I love the company. The colleagues are wonderful and so are the customers.

“Since I’ve been at the store I’ve served generations of people. I’ve served people with bairns; now their bairns have had bairns and I’ve served all of them on my till! It’s lovely. I love socialising with people and helping people, I always have.

“I’ve lived and worked in Cramlington all my life and everybody knows me. I’ve got no plans to retire at all.

“I would give this year’s Big Asda Anniversary 200%, the whole experience was absolutely fantastic. It was a beautiful setting, everything about it was lovely, you couldn’t beat it.

“It was great to travel down with colleagues, we had a good laugh throughout, and everyone was lovely.”

Pauline was joined by 1,900 long-serving Asda colleagues from across our stores, including this group of colleagues from our Norwich superstore:

Section leader Sue Matthews has worked at the store for 35 years and said: "I’ve got so many fantastic memories that I will treasure forever. I love seeing the same faces week in week out – we have a fantastic team that never fail to make me smile.

“I can’t believe how quickly the last 35 years have flown by and it’s really nice to see that we’re all one big Asda family and such a big part of the local community.”

Northern Ireland colleagues got together too for this photo showing colleagues who have an amazing 1,385 years of service between them:

George Rankin, senior director for Asda Northern Ireland, said: “Congratulations to all the colleagues from Northern Ireland who are celebrating a Big Anniversary with Asda this year. We are very proud of all our colleagues, and their ongoing commitment to the business.”
