I’m really proud and very excited by our George Home copper range – it’s such an amazing feeling to see the warm way that people are responding to it on social media.

I love copper, as it's such a versatile material. The beauty and simplicity of the metal alone allows us to keep the collections simple and functional for our customers – meaning the copper is the hero. It also looks beautiful with other materials such as marble, glass or wood.

The copper trend started out in high end designer stores, but we wanted to provide a look that was versatile, current and affordable. Chrome metals can feel very cold and clinical and gold is perceived as more luxury, but copper is modern and welcoming and has become the go-to in between colour creating warm natural tones that stand out.

The workmanship that goes into each product is second to none and it's been amazing to see pieces coming together. We’ve managed to develop products such as our copper jewellery stand and candle holder using real marble as the base which gives an outstanding premium look and something you wouldn’t imagine finding in your local supermarket.

We were quite nervous when we first introduced the range to George because copper was quite a departure for us, but it’s been really popular – and I love seeing what people are saying about it on social media. Here are some of the latest posts we’ve spotted:

Copper looks expensive, but we wanted to make the trend really affordable. It’s great to see the positive response to that, like this story from The Sun, which called our range stunning and said it was a fraction of the price compared to other retailers.

Our Bell Jar lamp (£30) has been really popular and it’s my favourite piece in the collection too.

It’s something that will look good in any room in any house – I’ve got one at home that I keep moving between the kitchen, bedroom, office and living room because it looks great in all of them. I can’t decide where its final home is going to be!

I also love our Copper and Marble-effect Wall Clock (£15) which is quite a substantial piece and has a very premium look. I’ve got in my kitchen and it looks lovely.

Copper looks fantastic with materials like marble and granite. We’ve managed to source real marble from India that we’ve used in some of our accessories – like our copper jewellery stand (£8) which has a marble base and our copper tealight holders (£6).

The copper trend works best with modern, clean interiors combined with soft pinks, yellows and greys – Scandinavian-style. But there are so many looks you can achieve in your home with a few simple pieces. Team your copper with sophisticated mid-century pieces to create amazing retro spaces or, for a more polished lux finish for winter, sit copper with deep jewel-coloured fabrics and ceramics to create a real opulence in your home.

We’ve got copper lighting, kitchenware, bathroom accessories and other home accessories and we’ll be launching more of the copper trend next year – look out for our copper reed diffusers and candle holders next spring.

We’ll also be expanding into other metallics like brushed antique and rose gold which have been inspired by the copper trend. The copper trend will be around for a while but you don’t have to stick to copper ... it’s great to match accessories in different metals.

Copper is being talked about so much in trend reports and blog sites that we definitely see it being around for a while yet. It's such a versatile material that it can adapt and change as trends evolve and it’s become one of the evergreen materials.
