Matt Heslop

Matt Heslop will lead Asda’s stores and depots operation, including the 470 convenience stores in its newly-established Asda Express division.

Matt joins Asda with over 20 years’ experience in the retail sector and has a proven track record in navigating the competitive UK Retail sector. Most recently, Matt has been Chief Operating Officer at Lidl, where he has been managing operations of over 900 stores – driving technological innovations and executing growth strategies.

Matt brings with him a wealth of retail operations experience, and his experience in the convenience sector will be particularly important in helping accelerate Asda Express’ position in the fast-growing £40bn convenience market.  

He is very much looking forward to working with the team at Asda and challenging its rivals on the shopfloor and online, ensuring our customers always get an excellent shopping experience. 

Matt lives in Surrey with his wife Emma and three children and enjoys playing hockey, padel tennis and keeping fit. Having completed a number of ultra marathons, Matt trail runs with his wife as much as possible.
