Back in October 2015, Asda launched Project Renewal to update its five year strategy and prioritise investment to better address the fast changing needs of its customers, with one of these priorities being to accelerate plans to invest in and refresh 95 stores – Eastlands is one of the first of these stores to receive this remodel and investment.

Asda Eastlands will have the popular meat concession counter - McGees , providing quality meat prepared with traditional butchery techniques in store, along with an updated bakery with popcorn offering. The store will also benefit from the addition of an Express Diner, offering quick, convenient food for all the family, as well as football fans looking for a pre-match snack.

In total, Asda is investing £4.4 million in the store’s remodel, which will be officially unveiled on 3rd June, although the store will be open to shoppers throughout the work.

Other retailers are set to open their doors as part of the Eastlands remodel. One of the world’s largest sporting goods retailers, Decathlon, will launch alongside the new look store, complimenting the adjacent sporting facilities available at the Etihad Stadium, the Manchester Velodrome and the newly opened Go Air Trampoline Park. Also launching is The Learning Factor, a tuition centre providing children aged 4-11 with an academic foundation in maths and English, at a time when the challenges and competition within schools are ever increasing.

Mike Jones, General store manager at Asda Eastlands, said: “This is an exciting time for our store being one of the first in the chain to go through a complete transformation this year as part of project renewal. We’re looking forward to showcasing a new look fresh food offer and bringing some exciting new features such as McGees and Decathlon.”

“Our store colleagues will be working hard throughout the remodel to ensure there is as little disruption as possible to customers while Asda Eastlands receives its makeover.”
