Edinburgh Gin toasts to new Scottish listing
Edinburgh Gin signs a new contract to supply range of flavoured liqueurs into Scottish Asda stores
With the Scottish gin market showing no signs of slowing down, Edinburgh Gin has signed a new contract to supply their range of flavoured liqueurs into Scottish Asda stores.
Adding to the original Edinburgh Gin and Rhubarb and Ginger liqueur lines that launched in stores earlier this year, Asda will now be the only major supermarket to stock three varieties of the flavoured range.
Now available in 44 stores across Scotland, gin lovers from across the country will now be able to enjoy the Raspberry Liqueur and Elderflower Liqueur.
“Since launching the Edinburgh Gin range in our stores earlier this year, customer feedback and interest has been exceptional,” commented Heather Turnbull, Buying Manager for Asda Scotland.
“Above all else customers are focusing on Scottish provenance and products which use the finest home-grown ingredients possible. Edinburgh Gin is proof to this and whether using the new Raspberry Liqueur with its infusion of Perthshire raspberries or the aromatic Elderflower Liqueur, customers will now be able to enjoy the expanded range from Asda.”
“We’ve made a considerable expansion to our beers, wines and spirits offering over the last year such as launching new Scottish vodka from Valt, new whisky lines and 25 craft beer lines from breweries across the country.”
Produced in the heart of the capital, the award-winning Edinburgh Gin range is produced at a distillery and visitor centre at Rutland Place and at a second distillery, The Biscuit Factory, in Leith.
The new deal is testament to the growth of the gin industry and recent data from Mintel forecasts that gin sales will continue to grow and reach £1.31 billion by 2020 and Brits are suspected to drink more than 29 million litres of gin.*
Alex Nicol, Co-Founder of Edinburgh Gin, added: “Gin has been growing in popularity for a number of years and it’s important that everyone has the opportunity to experience a high-quality, great tasting product.
“This new landmark deal will see our entire flavoured liqueur range available on Asda shelves and as well as being a significant milestone for Edinburgh Gin, will allow consumers from across the country access to a quality product distilled with pride in Scotland.”
The Raspberry Liqueur (20% ABV) and Elderflower Liqueur (20% ABV) is now available in 44 Asda stores in Scotland and will retail at £16 on rollback per 50cl bottle.
