Congratulations to the Warriors In The Community 2008's boys football team who, not only celebrated coming 2nd in the Scottish Cup, but also celebrated receiving a cheque for £598.00 via the Under 18's Better Starts grant.
Thank you to everyone who took part in our food drive last month, helping us collect half a tonne of food for people in crisis! Great to have Nathanya (Foodbank Development Manager), Jo and Shelley onsite with us to run this. It was lovely to hear from people who interacted with us throughout the day, including a 7 year old boy called Sam, who was moved by what the foodbank do and used his pocket money to donate food instead of buying toys on his shopping trip!
A group of year 10 students from Glenwood School joined us in store for a tour recently. Glenwood is a local specialist secondary school for pupils who require a personalised curriculum to meet their learning needs.
For this month's bank holiday weekend and Queen's Jubilee celebrations, colleagues enjoyed our very own in-store street party, where we played checkout bingo with our extra special customers and our very own "royal" visitors. It's fair to say we all had a royal good time!
Our in-store food drive in May was a great success. The final total resulted in a fantastic 1,797,85kg of food donated to Penryn & Falmouth Foodbank for which they were very grateful. Members of the foodbank commented that they thought it was the busiest and most generous one ever!
A few weeks ago I gave a donation of baked goods to Carlton Primary in Glenrothes. They were hoping to raise enough money to be able to take the whole school on a trip for the first time since covid. The young people have worked really hard all year doing various fundraising activities.
I've been outreaching with the Chorley Buddies at their Buttermere Community Centre Food Club. Whilst I was there I took the opportunity to present them with a cheque for £1,000 from the Asda Foundation.
