Stephen goes the extra 120 miles to help customers at Asda Dumbarton
So many of our colleagues have gone the extra mile to help customers over the last few months ... but everyone at our Dumbarton store is particularly impressed with delivery driver Stephen Butler, who made a 120-mile round trip to ensure his customers got their supplies!
A landslide blocked the road to Lochgoilhead – 35 miles from the store – so Stephen came in early so there'd be enough time to make a detour.
He said: "When I woke up that day, I had a quick scroll on Facebook. I follow updates for nearby roads to stay informed of closures and noticed my route for the day was going to be closed. Most of the customers who would have been missing out were my regulars, and I really didn’t want to see them stuck.”
Store manager Robbie McDonald is full of praise for Stephen's commitment.
He said: “We were getting lots of calls from customers worrying that they wouldn’t get their deliveries on time due to the landslide and road closures – Stephen volunteered to take the 120-mile round trip to ensure the customers were happy.
"He really did go above and beyond for our customers – we are very proud of him."
