Worksop colleague Claudia keeps herself busy with chickens, jam and netball!

Our amazing colleague Claudia Belk joined the team at our Worksop store to occupy her spare time – despite already being busy playing netball and rounders for five teams, rescuing chickens and running a small business making jams and chutneys using produce from her three allotments!

Claudia has volunteered for extra shifts in different Asda stores to help home shopping colleagues meet the increased demand for deliveries over the last few months, and store manager Craig Loveday says Claudia's work ethic is "incredible" given all of her other commitments.

The mum of two says she found she had time on her hands since her children had grown up and wanted to take on a part-time role at our new Worksop store to occupy her spare time.

Claudia said: "It’s only down the road from where I live and now my kids are a bit older I had some spare time.

"We were in different roles in stores during the lockdown so I’ve been trained in just about everything!”

But now that the Worksop store has opened, Claudia has taken up her role as a Point of Sale colleague, as well as selling her jams and chutneys for Christmas as part of her business, Vegdelight.

She said: “I grow my own fruit and veg and use the excess to make jams and chutneys. I put the money back into my allotment for next year.

“I start in March and finish in the winter. I also rescue battery hens and have done for about eight years – I have 12! They just live out their lives happily on the allotment.”

Claudia also plays netball and rounders for five different teams, three nights per week, which Worksop store manager Craig says is just ‘incredible’ given all of her other commitments.

He said: “I really don’t know where she finds the time from – she’s just amazing!

"She’s been brilliant whilst helping out in other stores throughout lockdown – especially all the help she’s given on home shopping. It just seems that she can do anything she puts her mind to."
