Asda Derby pull out the stops to help Ann and Harold celebrate their diamond wedding

When Debbie Jones and the team at our Derby store found out that regular customers Ann and Harold Patrick were celebrating their diamond wedding they pulled out all the stops to make sure they had a very special day.

The couple have shopped at the store since it opened 39 years ago, so Debbie arranged for them to collect a special cake marking 60 years of marriage along with a lovely bouquet of flowers and a card from colleagues.

She said: "Ann and Harold are regular customers and have been for many years so when their daughter, Debbie, told us it was their diamond wedding we wanted to help them celebrate – and it was a privilege. Everyone at our store wishes them a very happy wedding anniversary and hope they have a fabulous day."

Ann, who's 80, said: "The gifts and the cake were such a lovely surprise. Our daughter told us to be at the store at 11am, but we didn't know why. It was a complete shock. We'd like to thank everyone at the store for their kindness.

"The cake was lovely it had a photo of us now and one from our wedding day."

The couple, who have three daughters, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, have been shopping at the Spondon store since it first opened.

Ann said: "Everyone knows us in there. It's such a friendly place and the girls and the boys on the checkouts are amazing."
