Popular colleague Lisa celebrates half a century of service at Asda Bolton

Congratulations to our much-loved colleague Lisa Bezkorowajznyj who's celebrating an incredible 50 years of service at our Bolton store.

Lisa, who's performed a variety of roles at the store, joined at the age of 15 in 1971 – just 11 months after the store first opened.

Deputy store manager Gillian Leeming says it's a magnificent milestone and that everyone at the store is so proud of Lisa.

She said: "It's amazing to think that Lisa has been here since just after the store opened – she really is part of the fabric of the place. She's popular, friendly and will chat to anyone. Everyone knows her.

"It's an amazing thing for her to achieve, especially in this day and age, to work for the same company and in the same store for that length of time.

"Lisa doesn't really like a lot of fuss, but when she told us it was her anniversary we couldn't let that pass without saying thank you."

Lisa says she loves her job working in the chilled section and wants to carry on working for a few more years.

She said: "I am really proud to have been here for 50 years. I was 15 when I started and had just left school.

"The main difference between then and now is that we used to have to price everything by hand!

"It's all been good and I really enjoy it. The store gave me some lovely flowers, a tub of chocolates and a big 50 balloon, which was really nice."

Darren Marsh, the store's George and general merchandising manager, paid tribute to Lisa.

He said: "Fifty years is such a significant milestone, and to think that Lisa's been here pretty much since the store opened is amazing. She's very popular and has a great sense of humour.

"Everybody here knows Lisa and after all this time she's part of the furniture here!"
