Our quick-thinking colleague Matthew Haslett sprang into action when a customer at our Belfast Shore Road store collapsed from an epileptic seizure while she was shopping.

Matthew was in the right place at the right time. He caught the woman as she was falling, ensuring she did not hit her head on the way down. He then helped her into the recovery position and stayed with her until she was feeling better.

The customer soon recovered and left without needing any further medical help.

Matthew, who has worked at the store for 11 years, said: “I’m just glad I was able to help out – I’m sure anyone in my position would have done the exact same thing.

"I was lucky to just be in the right place at the right time.

“She was feeling back to her usual self when she left the store and I’m delighted she didn’t injure herself. I'm always happy to help!”

Store manager Kate Oakes says Matthew's actions are typical of his kind nature.

She said: “Matthew is very well liked amongst both our colleagues and customers from the store – he’s a very genuine and caring person and always has a smile on his face.

“We often receive positive feedback from customers praising Matthew and his helpful personality. Well done Matthew for helping our customer!”
