Talented artist Abigail has her work displayed in Milan gallery
Congratulations to our colleague and talented artist Abigail Lyons who's about to have one of her pieces displayed in a prestigious Milan art gallery.
Nineteen-year-old Abigail, who works part-time on Click & Collect at our Bishopbriggs store while she's studying fine art at City of Glasgow College, put her final coursework piece titled Faces Of One on her Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/lyo_nsart/ – and the M.A.D.S Gallery in Milan were so impressed that they got in touch and asked if it could be displayed in one of their exhibitions at the end of the month.
Abigail said: "I couldn't believe it at first when one of the curators got in touch. It really was a surprise. I was just so happy.
"The artwork is an identity piece and has four different images made up as one. It has four faces with the tops halves of each removed.
"I've only just displayed my art at college before so to have a gallery from Milan – one of the art capitals of the world – wanting to show one of my pieces is so exciting.
"I was on a shift at work when I first found out the news and I couldn't wait to tell my mum Carolyn. My colleagues here are happy for me and proud I think."
Abigail has loved painting and drawing since she was a child and is always working on new projects when she isn't at Asda.
She said: "I've always loved art since I was young. My main Christmas present was always a new paint set.
Asda Bishopbriggs service manager Emma Watson said: "We are all very chuffed for Abigail. It's a fantastic achievement. It's so exciting for her to have her work on display in Milan.
"She's a lovely, bubbly colleague who is a valued member of our team."
