Asda Bedminster's England-inspired pizza designs are a huge hit on social media

July 8, 2021

These fantastic pizza designs Hannah and Abby have been creating to show their support for England at Euro 2020 are going down a treat with customers at our Bedminster store and on social media.

One customer's tweet of the It's Coming Home message and Harry Kane shirt design tribute picked up an incredible 18,000 likes, replies and retweets on Twitter:

Their designs have made headlines too, with the Bristol Post calling it an "amazing tribute" and The Bristol Tab calling them "a thing of beauty".

Deputy store manager Jason Mansell says colleagues at the store are impressed by the designs, and delighted to see them proving such a hit.

He said: "They're amazing, and customers are coming in asking to buy these individual pizza designs.

"The guys on the pizza counter asked how they could show their support for England, and came up with the idea of spelling out It's Coming Home, making pepperoni pizzas in the shape of the St George's flag, and then Hannah came up with the shirt design.

"It's an inspired idea and everyone loves it. The feedback from customers has been fantastic."

Jason says the football is a huge topic of conversation among customers and colleagues alike, and that there's been great demand for pizzas, snacks, treats and drinks around the matches.

He said: "Bristol is a football-mad city so with the great results England have had over the last few years and the way Gareth Southgate has re-connected the squad with everyone means has been absolutely magic, so there's so much excitement now ahead of the final.

"It's ironic that people are going mad for the pizzas as a way of supporting England given it's Italy they're playing in the final, but really they're the perfect food to have during a match.

"A lot of people believe football's coming home, but as a Welshman I'm more mad about the oval ball game so couldn't possibly comment. But I was glued to my sofa watching the semi-final and I'm delighted to see them do well. To be in their first final in 55 years is huge, so I hope they go on and win it."
