Everyone at our Dalgety Bay store loves 76-year-old home shopping colleague Frank Smith, who's so friendly and helpful that some of his regular customers even choose their Click & Collect slots for times when they know he'll be working.

RAF veteran Frank retired from his previous engineering job when he was 65, but after finding himself at a loose end he joined Asda nearly seven years ago and says he hasn't looked back since.

Frank always brings a smile to work with him and treats everyone with the upmost respect.

He said: "The customers here are my friends. I'm on first name terms with them all. It's nice to hear that they know my shifts so they can be served by me.

"I'm just a friendly person who will help anyone – customer or colleague – when needed. We're just one big family here."

Frank, who's been married to Zofia to 53 years, joined the RAF as an engineer straight from school. On leaving the RAF in 1977 he started working as a manager for an engineering firm and stayed there for 35 years.

He said: "I retired when I was 65, but after about four years or so I started to get a little bit bored so applied for a job and have not looked back."

Store manager Lisa Angell says Frank, who's the oldest colleague working at the store, is a great colleague and the perfect gentleman.

She said: "‘Nothing is ever too much for Frank. He is an amazing asset to our store. From the moment he starts his shift he delivers amazing service to our customers and helps out where needed to support our colleagues across the store."

Her comments were echoed by Ewan Scott, the store's home shopping section leader, who said: "Frank is incredibly dependable, hardworking and energetic. He is always willing to help and keeps his younger colleagues on their toes to try and keep up with him."

Other managers at the store wanted to speak about Frank too. Andrea Wilkinson said: "Our customers absolutely love Frank. He is always on time, smartly dressed and looks out for his colleagues. He always treats everyone with respect and looks out for our colleagues."

And Linda Dewar added: "Frank is a true credit to Asda Dalgety Bay. He's loved by his customers and colleagues alike."

We're celebrating some of the amazing colleagues like Frank who make a real difference to our customers, communities and each other every day at our Proud To Be Asda Awards. Nominations are open to the public and Asda colleagues here: https://www.asda.com/proud-to-be-asda-awards
