Caring Coalville colleague Tamsin cares for injured cyclist
When our colleague Tam Lee spotted a cyclist lying injured in the middle of the road on her way into work at our Coalville store early one Sunday morning she immediately stopped to help – putting her Asda fleece around him to keep him warm and looking after him until paramedics arrived.
It was 5.30am when Tam arrived on the scene of the accident and when she realised he'd suffered cuts and bruising and was in pain she phoned for an ambulance. With the help of a couple of other passers-by she kept the man comfortable until he was taken to hospital.
Tam, who joined the store 18 months ago, said she did what anyone else would have done.
She said: "It was just human nature what I did. I saw the man in the middle of the road and his clothes were torn and his bike all crumpled up.
"I put my Asda fleece on him to keep him warm and waited with him until the ambulance crew arrived. I was only too happy to help.”
Store manager Tania De Oliveira, who has nominated Tam for an Asda customer service award, said Tam was an "absolute superstar".
She said: "What she did was amazing. The gentleman – who was in his 70s – may have been someone's dad or granddad. It was quite quiet at that time of day so it was lucky that she spotted him when she did.
"Tam's such a lovely caring person and will do anything for anyone. She is the life and soul of the party here in Coalville and takes everything in her stride. She is loved by all our customers who say she always brighten up their day."
