Home delivery driver Ozzy commended for helping poorly customer
Quick-thinking home delivery driver Ozzy Iqbal has been praised for potentially saving the life of one his customers who had taken ill and wasn't answering his door when he called with his groceries.
Ozzy, from our Chesser store in Edinburgh, became concerned and rang a contact number a couple of times to no avail before he managed to reach a neighbour to alert them.
They were able to access the customer’s home and realised immediately how unwell the gentleman was. An ambulance was called and the the customer was taken to hospital where he received the care he needed, before being allowed home.
Ozzy said: "He is a regular customer and when he did not answer I became a bit worried about him. I managed to reach a neighbour who was able to help – I’m so glad we were able to do something for the poorly shopper.
"I love my job and enjoy seeing my regular customers each week."
The store's online trading manager James Duncan said: "Ozzy is a key member of the team, and I was not surprised to hear that he had done this as he is such a caring character who always looks out for others. We are very proud of him!
"He's a very hardworking and consistent employee who has been with us for several years. He is very friendly and receives great compliments from our customers."
