Congratulations to Asda Long Eaton newlyweds Debbie and Tony
Congratulations to home shopping colleagues Tony Simpson and Debbie Johnson from our Long Eaton store who have just tied the knot after being together for 16 years.
Tony, who's 48, has worked at the store for 11 years, while 53-year-old Debbie joined as a picker a year-and-a-half ago.
They were married at The Chilwell Village Hotel, with a number of friends and colleagues from the store attending.
Debbie said: "It was a lovely day – we couldn't have asked for anything better. Tony is such a lovely, lovely person. He's so reliable and trustworthy.
"We both love working for Asda. We live just around the corner so we both walk to work when our shifts start at 3am! It's really nice working with Tony and everyone here is just really nice."
Tony said: "Debbie is just perfect in every way, she really is. It's really good having her work at the store too. I'm out the back sorting items for home deliveries and Click & Collect, so I do see a lot of her. The colleagues here are just so friendly too. We love it here."
The couple met 16 years ago when Tony was having a night out with friends and Debbie was with her sister. They got talking, and the rest is history.
Jon Coutts-Walker the store's community champion, said: "We love a good wedding here at Long Eaton and colleagues here are really delighted for Debbie and Tony.
"They've been together for quite some years now so it's really nice to see them finally tie the knot. We'd like to say congratulations to them both and we wish you many happy years together."
And home shopping section leader Carol Guy said: "Congratulations to a lovely couple! Wishing you love, laughter and a happy ever after."
