Asda Irvine colleague Linda goes out of her way to help elderly couple
Friendly checkouts colleague Linda Gibson has formed a close bond with an elderly couple who she helps at our Irvine store every week – so when she heard that one of them had been unwell she immediately stepped in to help.
Linda was worried about the couple as she hadn't seen them for a few weeks, so was relieved when the husband, who is partially sighted, popped in.
He explained to Linda that his wife was poorly and unable to accompany him, so Linda immediately stepped in to assist him and gave him her mobile number too.
Linda said: “They are such a lovely couple and I look forward to seeing them each week. When I heard about his wife I just wanted to help. He told me that his wife had told him to make sure he came to my till!
"I would never want to see anyone stuck. I love working on the checkout as it gives me the opportunity to chat with our customers and I have formed great bonds with our regular shoppers.”
David Johnston, the store's customer section manager, said: “I am so proud of Linda. I was not surprised to hear that she had offered to help this couple.
"She always gives 110% and has such a big heart. I am delighted to know that she looks out for our elderly customers.
“She is a credit to the store, and I am always getting great feedback from her colleagues and customers. Well done Linda!”
