Widnes colleague Sara helps customer create cake for wife in care home

When a customer called at our Widnes store wanting a special photo cake for his wife's 90th birthday our bakery colleague Sara Hall did everything she could to help.

The gentleman, who is also 90, wanted to take the cake to his wife who now lives in a local care home, but was unsure of how to create one.

Sharon Patten, our store's customer trading manager, said: "Sara went above and beyond to help this gentleman.

"She was very calm and very kind. She made us all very proud. He'd been talking to Sara for several weeks beforehand and Sara told him to see her when he was ready to do the cake.

"When he did come in, Sara was on a break but she dropped everything to go and help him.

"He had a couple of old photographs, so Sara took photos of them on her own phone and then helped him create the photo cake.

"He was very grateful for all her help. We gave him a bouquet of flowers to take to his wife too. We hope she had a lovely birthday."

Sara has been nominated for an Asda service superstar award for her kindness.
