A regular customer who uses a mobility scooter to get round our Middleton Park store in Aberdeen says our friendly porter Gordon Wedderburn is her 'rock' and makes shopping fun whenever she calls in.

She wrote to the store to say: "I have been through a lot over the past four years and, Gordon the trolley guy has been my rock. He has gone above and beyond his duty to help make my shopping easy, fun and enjoyable.

"I can't praise him enough. He gets the scooter for me, takes my shopping to my car and is very funny and polite. He makes my weekly shopping so much fun ... many, many thanks."

Food hall trader Darren Reid, who's nominated Gordon for an Asda service superstar award, said:" Gordon is such an asset to Middleton Park. It is always great to hear that customers come back just for Gordon's charm and smile.

"Gordon gets so many comments from colleagues or customers saying just how happy and helpful he is.

"Everyone knows him. He's a real character, a true gentleman and an Asda hero. Well done, Gordon."

Gordon, who's 54 and has worked at the store for 31 years, said he just liked helping people.

He said: "The customers are all very friendly and I get on with them all. I help them to their cars if they need it and chat to them too. I like to make customers feel welcome when they come to the store; I like to smile and be friendly.

"When the lady comes in I get the mobility scooter for her. I then take her shopping to her car too. I've known her for years and get on well with her."
