A big thank you to Jo Gough and the George team at our Cannock store who went out of their way to supply school uniform for 50 students at St Vincent’s RC Primary School after a request by assistant head teacher Tarah O’Brien.

George team leader Jo and her team began locating many of the required items for the school. But when she realised that some of the items on the list weren't in stock she pulled out all the stops to get them everything they needed.

The store's community champion Susan Westmancoat said: "Jo quickly realised some of products were unavailable in store so, after she finished work, she traveled to other Asda stores in the area and used her own money to buy some of the missing items. She then returned them to store and obtained a refund.

"Still unable to complete the request in full, Jo didn’t want to let the school down so she placed an order on George.com for the remaining items, again using her own money. By using her initiative and going the extra mile, she managed to obtain every item the school required."

When Lyn Edwards, our customer trading manager, heard about Jo’s efforts she nominated her for a Proud to be Asda award.

Tarah popped along to the store to buy and pick up the uniforms and is pictured with Jo and Emma from the George team.

She thanked Jo and the team for all their efforts.

Tarah said: "It means so much to our families that we have been able to do this. Many of them live in poverty and being able to provide uniform for them has been wonderful."

Jo has been reimbursed in full for all her purchases.
