Customers at our Keighley store love our wonderful checkouts colleague Julie who's always got time for a friendly chat – especially at Christmas.

Julie Shrimpton from Asda Keighley

Julie, who's worked at the store for 11 years, said: "I have some lovely customers, they’re like my extended family. Some of my regulars are real characters and we have a laugh, some share their sadness too and I like to check they’re okay when they come in.

“I love this time of year. I'm a people person and I Iove to hear what all my regulars are doing at Christmas time, as it's a happy time. The store really has a Christmas feel to it at the moment, it's lovely. I'm really looking forward to it ... not long to go now!"

Julie, whose son Ryan is 30 on Boxing Day, said: "It's nice to feel appreciated. My regular customers queue for me and wait for me. They always ask about me if I’m ever off too. I really love my job and my customers.

"There's one gentleman comes in every day who lives on his own. He queues and waits to be served by me, bless him. He just likes to have a chat. It makes their day, especially at this time of the year."

Regular customer Zoe said: "Julie always shows a real interest and remembers what we talked about last time; she is lovely".

And shopper Alan added: "Julie is always check how I'm getting on, she really cares about her customers, that's why I go to her till."

The store's community champion Suzie Ramsbotham said: "Often our customers will wait longer just to be served by Julie. They say she’s really lovely and caring and knows them all individually."
