Congratulations to caring service colleague Pauline King who has just been named Customer's Colleague of the Year in the Proud to be Asda Awards for the care she shows to customers at our Middlesbrough store.
Pauline, who's 70 and has worked at the store for 13 years, was nominated by a regular shopper who said: "Pauline has been working in my local for as long as I can remember and is part of the fixtures and fittings.
"I have chosen to nominate her for her generosity as I have often seen her buying goods and putting them in the food bank trolley and when a shopper was caught short, she paid for their shopping without hesitation.
"She is known for helping others – she often takes people's home addresses and drops shopping off in her car when they are struggling to carry heavy bags.
"Anyone who shops in Middlesbrough knows Pauline and what a gem she is. Asda should be proud to have her working there, she is the reason I have shopped there for so long."
Pauline, whose daughter Helen Frewin works as part of the home shopping team at the store, said she was "surprised" by the award, but incredibly proud too.
She said: "I like to help people. I consider myself a caring person and I wear my heart on my sleeve. Kindness costs nothing.
"I don't like to see people struggling and going without in these difficult times and if I can help I will. I love meeting people and enjoy a good rapport with colleagues and customers here."
Laura Tinkler, our store's customer section manager, said everyone was so proud of Pauline.
She said: "She really is a lovely lady who will do anything to help anyone. She's warm and helpful; a genuinely nice lady.
"She's loved by customers and colleagues alike. When she's in on a Friday morning she has her regulars who will queue just to see her.
"The award doesn't come as a great surprise as we are always getting great feedback about her."
