Congratulations to community champion Kelly Alexander from our Newmains store who's been presented with an award for all the acts of kindness and great work that she does in the community.

The accolade came from Scottish MSP Clare Adamson who said: "Kelly has been supporting local community groups such as Made 4 U, Abernethyan Early Learning Centre and Newmains Gala Day and recently completed the Kilt Walk in aid of Tickled Pink.

"Many community groups, local larders and food banks have seen a rise in demand for their services over the past few months so thanks to all the organisations that are providing support to the residents of Murdostoun and the surrounding area. We wish them all the best for the future."

Store manager Gerry O'Reilly said: "We are very proud of Kelly and the work she does in and out the store, always going above and beyond. It is very well deserved."

Kelly said: "I'm so proud to receive this award and was also very shocked as I wasn't expecting it at all.

"I would to thank everyone who put my name forward for this. I absolutely love my job and working in the community that I grew up in and helping the people and groups that need it the most.

"Representing Asda in the community and showing the work we do means so much to me. I have made so many new friends and links within the community and it's great they can reach out and ask for Asda's help and I try my best to make it happen."
