Everyone at our Corby store loves their colleague Geoff Wylie whose warm smile and positive outlook on life has made him a huge hit with customers.
Sixty-seven-year-old Geoff has only worked at the store since February this year but he's quickly become a firm favourite.
One customer, Lucy Brooks, was so impressed by Geoff's friendly manner and personality at the store's petrol filling station that she took to Facebook to thank him.
She said: "I found myself feeling quite rubbish, what some people may call an ‘off day’. However, after getting my petrol at the payment window, I was greeted by a kind man who brightened my mood with his genuine warmth and kindness. He had a genuine smile and wished me a good weekend, which made a positive impact on me!
"It is so easy to underestimate the power of a kind word or even a smile – for those not particularly having a great day it can make a world of difference.
"This is not the first time I’ve had exceptional customer service from the petrol station team – they have some lovely people working there and I’ve always left with a smile on my face. I think those in customer service facing roles, who uplift customers spirits, should be acknowledged!"
Geoff was a motorcycle instructor for more than 20 years before joining Asda after retiring. He said: "I was sat at home and getting a bit bored and this job came up so I went for it and got it. It suits me as I've spent my whole life dealing with the public.
"I love the face-to-face contact and I've got to know quite a few of the regulars now. You get to know people fairly quickly.
"I always ask how people are, hope they have a good weekend, and have a chat. It's just the way I am."
Geoff has been married to Rosanne for 44 years – she has worked at the store for 30 years. They have two sons and three grandchildren.
Naile Duncan, the store's customer trading manager, has nominated Geoff for an Asda service superstar award because he says he's always getting positive feedback about him.
He said: "Geoff has exceptional customer service skills and an ability to uplift both customers' and colleagues' spirits with his genuine warmth and kindness.
"He always goes above and beyond to ensure customers leave with a smile on their faces. Thank you for everything you do, Geoff."
