Congratulations to newlyweds Daniel and Kelsey from Asda Whitehaven
Congratulations to Kelsey and Daniel Lithgow from our Whitehaven store who have got married after falling in love working at Asda.
The couple, who have a son, Keenan, were supported at their wedding in Whitehaven Civic Hall by lots of colleagues, including Kelsey's mum Andrea Chambers, who helped arrange their big day and works alongside the newlyweds at Asda.
She said: “It was such a lovely day and I'm so proud of her. It rained outside but was fantastic inside and everything went really well.
"It was great that so many colleagues joined them on their wedding day – it was just a shame we couldn't invite them all! Everyone said they enjoyed it and that it was a lovely day."
There was a strong Asda theme at the wedding that they even had an Asda-inspired wedding cake, decorated with a shopping trolley and basket!
Checkouts colleague Andrea is married to Chris and they have another daughter, Jodie. Andrea has worked at the store since before it became an Asda in 2011 and says she loves seeing Kelsey at work.
She said: "It's so nice working alongside Kelsey. She only lives two doors down, so we see a lot of each other!"
Ambient section leader Daniel, who's 31, started working at the store before Kelsey joined the team three years ago.
She said: "We met at work. We were on the same shift and just started a conversation. We were friends for about a year and then he came in one day and said, "I'm going to take you on a date!"
Kelsey, who's 21 and works as a cleaner and on checkouts, says she loves working with Daniel.
She said: "We're like pals at work! I've had so many nice comments from colleagues and customers after the wedding. It was a really great day and we're still buzzing from it now."
The couple are now back at work, and looking forward to a honeymoon in Gran Canaria in a few weeks.
