A huge thank you to all our generous customers, colleagues and volunteers who've been supporting our Tickled Pink breast cancer campaign throughout October.
Colleagues have taken part in a range of fundraising activities – dying their hair pink, shaving their heads, waxing their legs and joining in with cycling, running and walking challenges, as well as arranging bucket collections, tombolas and cake sales. And lots of customers have been posting on social media to raise awareness of the campaign when buying limited edition products including pink versions of Diet Coke, Warburtons and Shreddies and our range of clothes from George at Asda.
Tickled Pink, which raises money and awareness for Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel!, is the longest running corporate charity partnership, raising more than £82 million over the last 27 years for world-class research, life-changing support and vital breast awareness information.
Here are just some of the ways our stores have been getting behind Tickled Pink:
Community champions and managers from all our stores in the Central Scotland region raised more than £6,000 by teaming up for a sponsored walk, pictured above. The fundraisers – who dressed in pink wigs, tutus and in one instance a full Pink Panther costume – twice walked around Strathclyde Country Park in Motherwell, a total of 12.8km.
Community champion Ann, from our Coatbridge, store said: "The good auld Scottish weather stayed dry to let them all complete the two-hour trek round the park." And Kelly, community champion at our Newmains store, added: "It was a fantastic day had by all." It was a poignant day too for popular community champion Margaret from our Falkirk store who retires later this month and she was given flowers and gifts by her friends and colleagues.
Well done to our Huddersfield store's manager Hugh for being such a great sport by dying his hair pink:
Maryanne from our Clydebank store and her best friend Sarah raised money for Tickled Pink by getting matching pink tattoos:
Well done to these colleagues from our Downpatrick store who took part in a sponsored leg wax:
There was lots of support from colleagues based in our stores across the north of England and in our head office in Leeds, with 290 people joining in with a sponsored walk across the Yorkshire Three Peaks:
Here are some of wonderful Hyde colleagues showing their support:
Well done to colleagues Nola, Haydee, Wendy, Robert and Gerry who raised more than £800 by completing a 21-mile Kiltwalk in Edinburgh:
Colleagues from our Poole store, including community champion Vikki, completed a 26-mile sponsored walk and collected money along the way.
Colleagues from our Pwllheli store have been dressing up in pink to support the campaign:
And here's Shirley from Gogglebox showing her support for Tickled Pink at our Caerphilly store:
