Holidaymakers hail Asda deliveries to campsites and caravan parks as genius holiday hack
Getting an Asda online order delivered to a caravan, campsite or holiday home is being hailed by holidaymakers as a brilliant way to avoid hauling bags, losing boot space or spending the first hours of a break in a shop.
On TikTok, people call it “genius”, “life saving game changing!” and “a blooming cracking idea".
This article looks at the feedback from customers on social media – and Online Managers Lee Pressley and Dewi Jones, from Asda stores in Austell in Cornwall and Llangefni in Anglesey, explain how to get home shopping orders delivered directly to your camp site, caravan or holiday home.
"The way to do it, delivered to the caravan door”
TikTok creators including Nannabea and Charlene Hutchison describe it as an easier way to start a caravan holiday.
Nannabea posted about having her shopping delivered to her caravan on holiday in Blackpool, saying "Thank you @Asda UK this is the way to do it delivered to the caravan door".
She says it's so much easier than taking the shopping yourself: "When my children were little, we always did caravan holidays, always twice a year, three times a year. And it was always Haven. And we used to go shopping before we came and lug great big bags of shopping as well as the kids. Four children, the shopping and our cases. Yeah, and it was a bloody nightmare. And here I am, chilled, reading my book and just waiting for my Asda delivery to come in my caravan ... How much easier is it having your shopping just delivered ...? If only we could have done that years ago, eh? All done, all sorted. No bloody hassle. Thanks, Asda."
Many of her 1.9 million followers are impressed – here's some of the comments on her TikTok:
-
"Cannot beat a Caravan Holiday and asda delivery what a blooming cracking idea Nanna xxx"

"Never thought to do an Asda delivery we lug a car load of food lol"

Lee Pressley, Online Manager at Asda St Austell in Cornwall, says deliveries to campsites and holiday parks work “in the same way as if you're ordering a delivery to home”. Customers give the campsite address and postcode, and can add comments to help drivers find them more quickly.
He says: “Just adding a comment to tell us where you are in the camp site or to give us a plot number means the driver can make the delivery quickly and efficiently.” He also recommends What3Words https://what3words.com for a more precise location.
Getting an Asda groceries delivery to your caravan site is a "money saving tip"
Nursery teacher Charlene Hutchison posted on TikTok to show her Asda online order being delivered direct to the door of her caravan, calling it a good way of saving money on holiday "because if you eat out every day and drink out every night then you would be [spending] a small fortune"

That same reaction appears under other TikToks. In a post from @caweey✝️, filmed beside an Asda van with the overlaid text “Life Hack on Holiday!”, one commenter writes: “life saving game changing!”, while another says: “I had no idea that you could do this 😂”
In a TikTok about a weekend away, mum Jade Brown says she was travelling by train and got her “Asda delivered to my door, my caravan door” instead of carrying bags and “stress-buying”. Her TikTok inspired comments like: “We do this too!! Either that, or a click and collect! I hate wasting time in the store when I’m staying in one of my caravans 🤭💕”
Asda's campsite deliveries "so convenient" for holidaymakers
Dewi Jones, Online Manager at Asda Llangefni in Anglesey, says deliveries to holidaymakers account for up to 40% of his store's deliveries in the summer.
He said: "More people are taking advantage of it so they don't have to bring the food with them in the car or head straight to the shops when they arrive. I can understand why – it's so convenient for them.
"We get to know the camp sites and caravan parks pretty well as we regularly deliver to some of them. You might have to make return journeys several times a day because the customer's in charge of choosing their delivery slot."
Lee Pressley from Asda St Austell explains what happens if customers are delayed on their journey to their holiday destination.
He said: "Customers choose their time slot, and most people aim for shortly after they arrive. We load up the van for each block of delivery slots, so it's not too too far in advance, and a lot of customers are really good at letting us know if they're running late or something's happened. If that's the case we can change the time slot to fit in with them."
How Asda grocery deliveries reach rural holiday locations
Many of the sites delivered to by the stores in Cornwall and North Wales are rural, so the teams take care to use local knowledge to find them and get there as smoothly as possible.
Lee said: "The area around us is small towns and villages, coastal places or somewhere that's out in the sticks, so the more information the customer's able to give us the better. There are lots of country lanes, including some that are too narrow to drive a van down. Although you get to know the tricky places and have sat nav in the vans it is really helpful to get as much information as possible.
"Sat nav isn't perfect, so drivers are able to add notes for that will help the next driver going to that location – for instance telling them to park up at the end of the lane and walk the rest of the way."
Dewi says the team at Asda Llangefni deliver to a range of unusual locations, ranging from harbours to castles.
Dewi said: "We deliver to holiday lets next to Harlech Castle. And as well as camp sites, caravan parks and Airbnbs we deliver to people on boats at Holyhead harbour. It's mostly pleasure boats and yachts, but we've even delivered to people getting on the ferry to Dublin.
"It's becoming more popular with people staying in parks like Haven, but we can deliver to people camping in the middle of fields too."
Asda campsite deliveries: "Second nature to make sure everyone has a great experience"
Lee says the online team keep a close eye on feedback they receive from customers through the Tell Asda system – and that most of the time it's all really positive.
He said: "Down at this end of the country it's not that we don't realise how important it is to the customer but it's an everyday thing for us because we deliver to that many camp sites and holiday parks that it's second nature to our drivers to make sure everyone has a great experience and gets their holiday off to a good start."
