What do people say about Asda home shopping delivery drivers on social media?

“What is it about Asda and the staff they employ? They are absolutely amazing, caring and really go that extra mile” – that’s just one of thousands of comments by customers talking on social media about Asda’s home shopping delivery drivers and how much they appreciate them being so "friendly, polite, happy and helpful" and "a godsend" to elderly or vulnerable people living on their own.

The comment was on a Facebook post about delivery driver Paul Parsons from the Asda store in Frome, Somerset, who sensed something was wrong when he arrived with 77-year-old customer Roger Taylor’s weekly groceries and didn’t get an answer at the door.

Mr Taylor had banged his head in a fall and been lying on the floor for nine hours, unable to raise the alarm. When Paul shouted through the letterbox and heard muffled shouts for help he quickly alerted emergency services and got hold of a couple of neighbours who managed to get inside the house and help him look after Mr Taylor until an ambulance arrived.

Here’s just a few of the reactions from the many people who saw the story:

• “Massive well done Paul ! It amazes me how often Asda drivers have managed to save the day for elderly or vulnerable customers. Thank goodness he trusted his gut feeling and didn't just drive away x”

• "In my mum's day if you didn't turn up at the butchers for your regular order or the post office for your pension they would raise the alarm. This is the modern version of that. Well done. Great job"

• “These lovely delivery drivers are now part of our care in the community. Well done Paul! 🙏”

• “Well done Paul, some heroes wear Asda uniforms x❤️”

• “Asda staff stories are the best thing on Facebook”

Mr Taylor, who made a good recovery after two weeks in hospital, said: “It is no exaggeration to say that if Paul had not heard me and alerted neighbours, then it is quite possible that I might not have survived. He, in effect, saved my life. I owe him a huge debt of gratitude."

"Asda really are the best. I love the people who deliver my groceries"

Asda’s Facebook page regularly features stories shoppers have shared praising delivery drivers and other employees not just for their reliable and friendly customer service but for genuine acts of kindness.

And sometimes the biggest reactions are for the simple things that can make a big difference – like the way Asda delivery driver Tony Frost from Derby makes a fuss of one customer’s six-year-old son Teddy.

Teddy loves lending a hand when Tony arrives at the family home with their online order – and Tony's given him his own Asda high-vis jacket, name badge and lanyard to make him feel part of the team.

Teddy is high-functioning autistic and his mum Bonnie says Tony's kindness has made a huge difference. She said: "Tony is a really lovely soul. He always has time for Teddy, and makes his day as he lets him help him. He takes his time with Teddy, he doesn't rush him and always praises him. Tony has restored my faith in people; he's an absolute credit to Asda.”

Some of the comments on the Facebook post telling their story:

• "That is soooo lovely. Asda really are the best. I love the people who deliver my groceries plus they carry it through to my kitchen for me and even unload it all onto my worktop for me 🤗"

• "I've met Tony. My daughter is autistic and he always lets her help. He makes a huge effort to make her smile and feel like she's super strong and helpful ... I love our deliveries with him".

• "Well done my fellow Asda colleague I'm sure this little guy is always happy when you deliver to them. As an Asda delivery driver myself I know what it's like to make people happy. Keep doing what your doing mate 👍"
