A community group has been awarded £1,000 from the Asda Foundation to help run a lunch club aimed at reducing loneliness and social isolation in Boston.
Crossroads Lunch Club brings the community together every Tuesday at Restore Church buildings, Liquorpond Street so that people, of all ages, can meet up, enjoy a light lunch of soup, rolls, cake and hot drinks together and make new friends.
The money will be used to purchase new dining tables for the group and the weekly purchase of fresh vegetables and rolls for the homemade soup served at their meetings.
Ian Evans, Project Leader at Crossroads Lunch Club, said: "Yet again Asda has come forward with funding for another much needed venture in Boston and its surrounding community. We can only express our grateful thanks for making it possible for this much needed support group to start working in our town."
The lunch club runs every Tuesday, from 11:00am to 2:00pm except Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
There is a maximum donation of £2 for each session.
