Our Chadwell Heath store's community champion Robyn Parsons presented the King George and Queen’s Hospital Charity with a £25,000 donation from the Asda Foundation.
The money will be used to provide a ‘RITA’ system to the dementia ward. RITA, which stands for Reminiscence Interactive Therapy Activities, will help patients by engaging them in a range of activities including showing them personal photos and films they may connect with.
Robyn also hosted a tea party with fundraising activities and games for National Health Service staff and patients as part of the NHS's 70th anniversary celebrations.
Asda stores with a café also offered a free cup of tea or coffee to NHS staff or employees by simply showing an NHS ID card.
Robyn said: “It's been an amazing experience to work alongside Queen’s in the application of the grant, and knowing it is going to make a huge difference to so many patients in the hospital is incredible.
“We were delighted to join in with celebrations as the NHS turns 70 and it will be such a rewarding experience to see the devices in action within the hospital.”
