Larne cheque presentation

Colleagues and customers at our Larne store have helped to raise several thousand pounds for Northern Ireland Children's Hospice.

The store's community champion Catherine McCallion presented a £2,720 cheque to the group, with colleagues raising £1,360 during a 12-hour sponsored static cycle in the store.

The Asda Foundation matched this total through top up funding – and the group were also winners in our customers' Green Token Giving vote, which means they'll receive a further £500.

The hospice provides end of life, symptom management and specialist respite care to life limited children and young people in their homes or at its facilities.

Catherine O’Hara, regional fundraiser for Northern Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, said: "As the only dedicated palliative care service in NI, we are there to support families when they receive the devastating diagnosis that their child is life-limited.

"We would like to say a special thank you to Catherine and the colleagues at Asda Larne who inspired so many to donate."

Catherine McCallion said: "Every pound donated or raised makes a real difference to local children and their families, so I would like to say a big thank you to our colleagues and customers who helped us raise this vital funding."
