Charlton World Food Workshop

Our Charlton store's community champion Caroline Pettican regularly volunteers with local schools – here she is helping youngsters from Charlton Manor Primary School learn about food from around the world.

Caroline hosted the workshop to teach the reception and year one pupils more about where different ingredients come from around the world and talk about the delicacies that different cultures enjoy.

The children tried lots of different ingredients from their local store, including French cheeses, Spanish cured hams, Mexican avocados, and freshly-baked bread.

The group also completed a world food worksheet on which they drew the different ingredients and identified which country they came from.

Caroline said: “Asda and Charlton Manor Primary have a great relationship and it is always a joy to work with the children at the school.

“It really is such a great opportunity to introduce the children to a fun and hands-on approach of geography and food culture.”
