Your digital colleague discount is now live!
Asda values its colleagues and recognises their hard work by offering colleague discount on their shopping instore and online. Colleague discount is the one of the most loved benefits Asda gives to its colleagues, and we have increased the discount to 15%!
As part of Future we upgraded the colleague discount card, we listened to our colleagues, and this is now digital card hosted in the Asda Rewards App. For those colleagues who cannot use the digital card, you can order a physical card.
The old Walmart physical colleague discount card has now stopped working in store andwill stop working online from Thursday 28th August, so please make sure you activate your new digital discount card hosted in the Asda Rewards App for both you and your nominated user as soon as possible.
To activate your digital discount card you will need your colleague ID number (begins with 140) and discount ID number, both can be found in Workday.

How to Use Your New Discount Card
The new discount card (both digital and physical) is a barcode that can be scanned at the till point any time during the transaction before payment. You no longer need to press the “Colleague Discount” button on the till screen, if the “Colleague Discount” button is pressed in error this can be cancelled by pressing the back button on the till screen.
You will need to scan the discount card barcode before payment (either digital or physical card) and if you want to earn in the Rewards app ensure you scan that barcode too – both can be found in the Wallet part of the Rewards App.
The digital discount card will still be available and work if you cannot access the Rewards App due to no Wi-Fi, data or if in the unlikely event the Rewards App is down.
Lifetime Card Holders
If you are a lifetime card holder or entitled to keep your card for 12 months after leaving the business, you will still need to activate a new discount card. You are eligible to either a digital card or physical card.
To activate your digital card in the Asda Rewards app you will need to request your colleague ID & discount ID by completing this form.
If you wish to order a physical card please complete this form. Please note that physical cards can take approximately 4 weeks to arrive.
Nominated Users (Active Colleagues Only)
You are eligible to have one nominated user from your household (excluding lifetime card holders), they can have either a digital card or physical card and this doesn’t have to be the same as you.
Nominated users will need to activate their digital card in their Asda Rewards using the steps in the how to guide. You will be able to find their discount ID in Workday along with your own. This does not apply to Lifetime Card holders as nominated user discount ceases when the colleague leaves the business.
Physical Card
If you are unable to use a digital card, you can request a physical card by completing this form.
Please note that physical cards take approximately four weeks to arrive due to print and delivery lead times.
Grocery Home Shopping (Asda.com) and George.com
From Thursday 28th August, you will need to update your colleague discount details in your online account to continue to receive discount on grocery home shopping (Asda.com) and George.com.
If you have already registered a Walmart discount card, you will need to update the number in your account setting, following these How To Guides for Asda.com and George.com.
If you have not already linked a discount card, you can do this in the checkout using the following steps at the checkout:
Select ‘Apply a voucher’
Type in the code ASDA and click ‘next’
When prompted on the next screen the colleague needs to add your colleague number and your Asda Discount number.

With Rollback, we’re not only offering the lowest prices for our customers; at the same time, we are also permanently increasing our colleague discount to a fantastic 15% off! Including lifetime card holders, IPL and Express colleagues.
This means colleagues and their nominated user will be able to get 15% off in store including Asda Opticians (instore and online), Pharmacy, Express and on asda.com and George.com.
Beers, Wines and Spirits in store and online will stay at 10% discount.
FAQs
General
Q - Will my current physical card still work when the digital card is launched?
A - No, the new card will replace the current Walmart discount card which has now stopped working.
Q - Will IPL, EG and other subsidiary users also get the digital discount card?
A - No, this just affects Asda colleagues. The IPL and City cards will remain the same for now.
Digital Discount Card
Q - Will the 15% colleague discount saving go in my Asda Rewards Cashpot or will it be taken off my shopping total?
A - Your 15% discount will continue to be 15% discount off the cost of your shopping, not paid into your Cashpot.
Q - What if I don't have a smartphone?
A – A physical card can be ordered via this form.
Q – I am under 18, can I register for a digital discount card?
A – Unfortunately due to legislation surrounding the Asda Rewards app under 18s cannot register for a digital discount card. Please order a physical card using this form.
Q - Can I add my discount card to the apple / google wallet on my phone?
A – The colleague discount is currently not available in the apple / google wallet but we are working on it
Q – Does the digital discount card still work if the Rewards App is down or I do not have access to data or WiFi?
A – Yes, the Rewards App has an offline mode and the discount card is still available to scan.
Q – What is my colleague ID number?
A- This is your old Walmart number, it is 10 digits long and starts 140. It can be found on Workday -> Profile -> View Profile -> Under Summary in the Job Details title, locate the 10 digit number.
Q – What is the discount ID?
A- This is your new discount number, it can be found in Workday. It is not your old / current discount card number.
To find your Colleague Discount IDs, go to Workday -> Profile -> View Profile -> Go to the Job Section on the green menu, click on Additional Data tab at the top of the page -> Your Discount IDs are located under “Colleague Discount Card”
Q – I am having problems with my Asda Rewards app, who do I need to contact?
A – If your problem is to do with the Asda Rewards app and not colleague discount please visit the help centre
Physical Card
Q - How do I request a new physical discount card?
A - You can order a new physical card by completing this form.
Please only order a physical card if you cannot use the digital card
Q – How long does a physical card take to arrive?
A - Physical cards can take between up 4 weeks to arrive, at peak times this can be up to 6 weeks.
Using the new card
Q – Do I still need to press the colleague discount button on the till before scanning my new discount card (both physical and in app)?
A – No, you no longer need to press the colleague discount button on the tills before scanning your discount card
Q - Will the move to digital discount card automatically include extra discounts for Pay Day and Special Discount Events?
A - Unfortunately not on the initial release, but this is something we hope to do in the future to make the payment process smoother and easier for colleagues
Q – Can I use my new discount card in Asda Express stores?
A – Yes, just present your card (digital or physical) and the checkout colleague will apply the discount at the till.
Q – Do I still need to scan the Food to Go Voucher or will I automatically receive 20% off?
A – The Food to Go Voucher will need to be scanned by the store colleague to recieve the 20% discount.
Nominated Users
Q - How will the new card work for nominated users?
A - All active colleague discount card holders, including nominated users, will be able to access and link the new digital card within their Asda Rewards account .
Q – Does my nominated user need their own Asda Rewards account?
A – Yes, only one discount card can be activated per Asda Rewards account. The Asda Rewards app applies one membership per person, you are in breach of the Asda Rewards T&Cs if you share your membership.
Q - I’ve aligned my colleague discount number in my nominated users Asda.com account by mistake, how do I correct this?
A - Please raise a Benefits – Ask a Question query via OneAsda so that this can be actioned for you.
Life time card holders
Q – I am a lifetime discount card holder, am I eligible for the new discount card?
A - Yes, all colleague discount card holders including lifetime card holders and those who are eligible to retain their card for 12 months can either activate their digital discount card or order a physical card. Please see the Lifetime user section above for more information.
Q – I am a lifetime card holder, do I get a nominated user card?
A – Only active colleagues are eligible to a nominated user card .
Q – I am an immediate relative of a lifetime card holder who has sadly passed away, can I still use the card?
A – If the lifetime card holder has passed away then the entitlement for discount ceases. Only the lifetime card holder is eligible for discount.
Q – Why have I not been contacted directly about the changes to my lifetime colleague discount card?
A – Once a colleague leaves Asda we do not keep contact details and address records up to date, therefore we could not contact you about these changes. We have asked all our colleagues to pass the message on to any lifetime card holders they know and / or serve in our stores.
Grocery Home Shopping and George.com
Q - Will I get discount on Grocery Home Shopping and George.com?
A – Yes, you will need to update your discount card number to continue to recieve discount on Grocery Home Shopping and George.com for.
Q - What will happen if I don’t update my new discount card on my Asda.com or George.com account?
A - You won’t receive your colleague discount if you don’t update and add your new colleague discount number to your online account.
Q - How do I update my discount card on my online account?
A - You can update your discount card number in your account settings on either asda.com or George.com. The How to Guide above shows you step-by-step how to update your discount card.
Q - I have never had colleague discount online, how do I apply my discount card?
A - You can apply your colleague discount at the checkout by following these steps:

Q - I am due a delivery on the 28th August, do I need to update my discount card before delivery?
A - No, as long as you have checked out on or before 27th August you do not need to update your discount card to receive your colleague discount.
Q - I have placed an order before 28th August for delivery after 28th August, do I need to update my discount card before delivery?
A - If you have completed the chekout you will onlyreceive 10% discount unless you amend your order and update your colleague discount card number.
Q - I have a delivery on 28th August, will I receive 15% discount?
A - No, you will receive 10% discount as the order was placed and checked out before the incresae came into effect.
Q - I’m a new colleague how to I get my 15% colleague discount online?
A: At checkout,

A: Yes, they should link their Asda discount card number to their own Asda online account. Please note that the nominated user card number is different to the colleague card number.
Q - Can I update my discount number before the 28th August?
A - No, if you try to update your discount card number before the 28th August you will receive a failed error message. If you have a Walmart issued discount card please continue to use this online to receive 10% discount until 28th August
