Our Aberdare store is celebrating its 20th birthday this year – and this group of colleagues who joined on the very first day are still enjoying giving fantastic service to customers.

Earlier in the year, the store completed an exciting refit with many new features including a new-look cafe with hot pizzas available, a refurbished George department, Scan & Go and many other changes to improve your shopping experience.

Around 40 colleagues who started out in 1999 are still at the store, and deputy store manager Marc Bloxham said: "There's a real family feel to this store and I think that's partly down to the colleagues who have been here for 20 years. Many of them have progressed their careers here.

"We're really looking forward to celebrating our 20th birthday, and with the refit complete it's a really exciting time."

The store's community champion Julie Cook is one of the colleagues who started on 21 June 1999, and said: "I think it's a credit to Asda that so many of the team who started out on the very first day are still here now – if they didn't love their jobs, they wouldn't be here.

"I love working here, it's very friendly and there's so much experience. There have been big changes but we've come through them together.

"We've got all sorts planned for this year to mark the birthday, so watch this space!"
