Colleagues from our Benton store presented volunteers at a nearby community centre with a £15,000 Asda Foundation grant to help them repair their roof.
Springfield Community Association was set up in 1982, and hosts groups which are attended by local people of all ages – including parent and toddler meetings, dance classes, martial arts and a dog club.
Our Benton store's community champion Lesley Barnes helped the group apply for the grant, and they picked up the cheque from general store manager Andy Dallman.
Lesley said: "The centre plays a big part in the local community, ensuring groups are able to maintain the different services they offer. We are proud to help."
Andy said: "We see the Foundation as one of the many ways to give something back to the communities that support us. That’s why we lend a hand to the wide range of good causes with which our colleagues are involved, sharing their passion and helping to make a difference through a variety of projects locally and across the UK.
“Supporting smaller, local applications such as Springfield Community Association is really important to us – and we hope it will make a real difference to the Benton community."
