Volunteers get on their bikes for Preston Samaritans at Asda Fulwood
We were delighted to host a 24-hour sponsored bike ride at our Fulwood store to raise money and awareness for the Preston and District branch of the Samaritans.
Volunteers took it in turns to ride the static bikes in store and raised nearly £550 thanks to the generosity of Asda customers. Pictured above are volunteers Mary and Kathleen.
It was a tremendous effort as the team cycled a total of 1076 km – that's further than the first five stages of the Tour de France!
The Tour de France covers 987 kilometers in the first five days; Team Preston and District SAMs covered 1076 kilometers (673 miles) in one 24 hour period!!
Lots of friendly interaction with the customers&staff at Asda with pence short of £550 collected. A truly great effort 💚👏 pic.twitter.com/lNFsxd8qT9
