Staying safe and remembering VE Day

Our community chamion Walter is shielding along with his wife Eileen, but that didn't stop him remembering VE Day. He was kind enough to share some pictures and memories to celebrate his family contribution during past conflicts.

First World War: My grandfather, born in 1894 and served in the Merchant Navy – 1914-1919 – as a sailor; My other relatives were in the Army – names unknown;  World War Two, my mother was in the Ammunitions factory helping to provide Shells. My father was in the Army – not sure what ranking - My other relatives were as Air Raid Wardens/Gunners – names unknown.
