I was invited to attend the official opening of the £15m leisure centre here in Barnstaple British Olympics hero Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards.
The opening event was attended also by local MP Selaine Saxby, leisure centre officer Richard Slaney and other local officials. The centre has a ski slope, outdoor and indoor sports facilities, eight lane pool and general pool with moveable floors.
