Burton at Bideford were successful in applying for an Asda Foundation grant of £900.
They are working in partnership with Encompass, Refuge and Women First to co-curate a temporary six-month display at the Burton Museum. Often women seeking help arrive at refuges with only a small bag of personal items. The new display will capture the stories behind items which are too precious to leave behind and give the women comfort, connection and hope. The display will also highlight the work these organisations do and the resources available for women in crisis in North Devon. They will be running out-of-hour’s sessions and creative workshops for groups involved helping them to develop art work and stories for the project, enabling them to find their voice and tell their stories. Additionally, they will be making a short film to accompany the project. This will increase the projects accessibility to large audience, through their website and YouTube channel.
