Myself and Lorraine and Carolina – my community colleagues from our Burnden Park and Farnworth stores – together with George colleague Naz have been busy helping the Fort Alice domestic abuse refuge in Bolton.
Over the last 12 months the refuge has provided shelter to 79 women and 124 children, but the charity is facing a £22,000 shortfall made worse by the current coronavirus crisis as the UK is seeing a dramatic rise in domestic violence cases. To help with the fundraising we've been making bows made from ribbon and each one will be sold for £5. The campaign – which has so far raised £5,000 – has the support of the Mayor of Bolton, Councillor Hilary Fairclough.
