I was pleased to present a cheque for £500 on behalf of the Asda Foundation to the Crescent Food Bank.
CFB has been operating for just over a year with the objective of relieving food poverty in Bolton and its surrounding areas. Since March 2021, they've assisted families and individuals who've struggled to make ends meet, having supported 4,006 people, with children making up 25% equating to 22.125 tonnes of food being distributed. From that 65% of families returned for continued support.
The donation from the Asda Foundation was to contribute to the 521 food parcels spanning across 14 schools in Bolton that have been distributed over the six-week holidays. CFB is a wholly volunteer-run organisation that has engaged since its inception with various charities, agencies and supermarkets, to ensure consistency and longevity in its projects.
