We joined the Boston RiverCare group on their most recent river clean.
Volunteers from across the town met at the Boston Rowing Club to help tackle litter pollution which would otherwise persist in the environment, damaging wildlife and perhaps eventually ending up in the ocean. By looking after this stretch of river in Boston we hope to help prevent this litter and plastic pollution from having a negative impact on river and marine wildlife, and to create a cleaner river for the local community to enjoy. At the end of the litter pick we provided a selection of cakes for all of the attendees to enjoy with the tea, coffee and hot chocolate that the Boston Rowing Club kindly provided.
The RiverCare and BeachCare programme is delivered by Keep Britain Tidy in partnership with Anglian Water and with the aim of supporting local community groups who want to protect and enhance their local waterways and beaches. There are two future events already planned. One on Saturday 26th March (as part of the annual Keep Britain Tidy spring clean), 10 am – 12 noon and the second on Saturday 21st May, 10 am – 12 noon. Both clean-ups will begin at Boston Rowing Club.
