Community is a word you’ll hear often at Asda. Across stores, distribution centres and home offices, we’re proud to be part of the local communities in which we operate
The work of Community Champions, alongside Asda’s charity, the Asda Foundation, remains a lifeline for many grassroots community groups and charities. Community Champions usually spend their time out and about delivering practical support, listening to our communities’ needs, and working with local people to channel funding and assistance where it is needed the most.
Here's how they can help
From outreach programmes to grant giving, our Community Champions listen to our communities’ needs. They work tirelessly to support charities, projects and initiatives that make a real impact for local people. They also build close relationships with local schools, working with teachers to promote healthy food and an active lifestyle, enthusing children about cooking and talking to them about protecting the environment.
- Lend out our facilities to helpOur Community Champions provide space in our stores to local groups to raise awareness of services available within the community, collect food for food banks and support fundraising for local charities. Some of our stores also have rooms available free of charge that community groups can use to get together.
- Raising funds and awareness for local groupsOur Community Champions lead a variety of in-store fundraising events, from bag packing to bucket collections. They’ve also taken on some truly inspiring personal challenges—whether it’s shaving their heads or running marathons, their dedication knows no bounds. In everything they do, they make us incredibly proud.
- Donate to help your causeEach Community Champion has a monthly budget for product donations, which they use to provide practical support to local groups and causes. This donation budget can also be used to supply prizes for raffles and other fundraising activities, helping to boost efforts and raise even more for the community.Find out More
- Volunteering time to help youWe’re passionate about building stronger communities for our customers and colleagues, and that’s why our Community Champions spend a lot of time volunteering with local groups. Volunteering helps our Champions understand what’s important to you and sometimes, a helping hand is all that is needed to make your community a better place to live and work.
- National Charity PartnershipsOur Community Champions will help raise vital funds and raise awareness of our National Charity Partners. We currently have two National Charity campaigns: Asda Tickled Pink and BBC Children in Need. The monies raised by our Community Champions is used by our partners to increase awareness of their aims and the support they give to our local communities.Find out more
